Stu puts the kids to bed on Monday nights. After he was finished, he came downstairs and told me what he found in Marcus' room. Firstly, during his quiet time he must have built a wall all the way across his room with foam blocks. Also, he had snuck a pencil into his room; they don't show up well in the pictures, but there are pencil lines all over the floor and into the closet.
On the side of his toy box he wrote something. Stu thinks it it supposed to say, "By the Marcus." It clearly says THE and Marcus, only the 'a' and 's' are backwards. This is the first time Marcus has ever attempted to write his name, or any words at all.
This morning I had Marcus cleaning the pencil marks off the floor with a rag. While he was doing this, I told Stuart what he had done. Stuart then brought me this--it is an envelope of Stuart's Sunday school supplies. Marcus tried to write 'Stuart' twice on the back of the envelope.
This week is a very low-key week for school. Yesterday I had the kids put together "scarecrow kits" that I bought at Party City when I was getting toys (instead of candy) for Halloween.
Since that picture, Stuart added a face and hat, then turned the scarecrow around and made his "twin" on the other side of the scarecrow body.
Marcus took a slightly different approach with his scarecrow, including saying to me, "Look, Mommy! My scarecrow has SIX pockets! The crows will REALLY be scared away when we put these up outside!"
Here is Stuart, squishing something rather painfully onto his scarecrow.
I think this was Marcus putting the googly eyes onto his scarecrow.
Earlier this morning I covered the big dining room table in craft paper. The kids are drawing and writing on it (and apparently going to get train tracks). I might have pictures of that later as well.
Addie just wrote all over Lily's dresser in Quiet time too. Grrr.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope Addie wrote in something easy to clean....
