I have a cold, so you have some pictures.

I have a cold, so sitting here blogging sounds way better than folding laundry.

See how thick that is? That is homemade mayonnaise, my friend. It works in my food processor better than any blender I've tried, especially the Blendtec. The Blendtec is good for everything but mayonnaise, but that's okay because the food processor has my back. The mayo is so yellow because good eggs have darker, orange yolks. Also I think I used too much mustard and paprika. I swear the kids dipped rolled-up lunch meat into straight mayo (this mayo, actually) and ate it all. And asked for more.

Marcus, out and about at Mt. Talbert on a homeschool group trip.

Marcus, smiling but trying to keep me from taking his picture.

The boys, building a Snap Circuits circuit to play Happy Birthday to me on Monday. Yeah, I turned 40 on Monday.

Hula Hoop Time Trials! Who can hoop for the longest?

He's working on those skills....

He wants to keep the hoop up longer....

He can keep it above his hips consistently....

And he did so for over a minute. (I made the full time of 3 minutes, but it was hard.)

This is me, at the end of a LONG day, where I'm cutting my birthday cake. They said I needed so many candles that they got me four BIG candles instead of 40 little ones. Stuart and Marcus tease me about my age too, just like their dad. Who won't be 40 until August.

It was a shockingly good cake--grain-free, dairy-free, and mostly free of refined sugar. Sweetened mostly by maple syrup and dates, although there was also honey and a little while sugar in the frosting.

Stuart chose carrot cake. I definitely ate way too much of the cake.

I think Marcus was cold, but didn't want to admit it. So he snuggled up to his big brother.

I'm almost certain that Marcus was telling me not to take a picture of him.
