Black Friday in the Snow

Stu has established a family tradition of going to the mountain on Black Friday.  The idea is to avoid the shopping and the malls.  This year, thanks to his forward planning, we even avoided having to duck into REI to buy snow boots before traveling to Mt. Hood.

But I'm getting ahead of myself.  We got up the mountain and changed.  Immediately Stuart makes a snow angel/falls asleep in the snow.

I snapped a picture of this hunk walking by pulling something.  Oh, those were my kids?  I didn't notice.

Stuart was thrilled to be there.  I can tell this is early in the trip, as he barely has any snow on his face or head.

Marcus was thrilled, too, as long as he could sit in the sled and get pulled everywhere.

Stu let them run down the kiddie hill a couple times.

I think they had fun.

See?  Smiles.

Later they upgraded to the big hill, where Stuart started to collect snow.

I told him to zip up his coat, but he wouldn't listen.  Can you see the plug of snow in his ear?

Stu the snow veteran took a turn or two on the sled.

I am not a snow veteran.  Can you tell?

That hill is steeper than it looks.  But I recovered enough to smile by the end of my trip.

Marcus got off a few barbaric yawps for us.

See Stuart on the right and Marcus in the middle?  They are making snowballs.  See me on the left?  I caught a snowball meant for Marcus.  In the glasses.

And then Stuart learned the power of his dad's deadly aim with a snowball.  Right between the hat and the coat.

I was avenged.
