A hike and other random cuteness.

Sometime this weekend Stu found me and said, "You have to see how Marcus left his room after quiet time." This is what I saw:

Did you miss it? Here's a close-up:

Sometimes he likes to bang on the window and say hello to our next-door neighbors walking around on their property. I guess he wanted to give Owl and Monkey Isaac the chance, too.

The kids kicked the cat door until it broke. Anyway, while Stu was putting in the new cat door, he requested a kid-free environment. I took the kids down into Oaks Bottom on the paved trail. This picture is actually on the gravel path around the tadpole pond.

This is back on the path again. Can you see how Marcus is adorable and Stuart is annoyed? Story of my life, one way or another.

There were even a few tiny wildflowers still, if you can see them:

Here Stuart is trying to unearth a stump by kicking it. Over and over again. Marcus is transfixed.

This morning, Marcus dragged out the tangrams and built this "gun". The left end is the handle and trigger; the right end is the muzzle. Or so he said.

While Marcus was designing weaponry, Stuart was calmly coloring in the Mediterranean sea in blue crayon. He gets really upset when I make him do map work in crayon instead of marker, but was pretty calm for this picture.
