Bryant Woods Nature Park

I've been trying to explore the nearby area, but across the river.  I've lived on the east side of the Willamette River for nearly twelve years now, it's time to see what's on the other side.

Fresh from the new edition of Wild in the City, it's Bryant Woods Nature Park!

My kids obligingly stood in the dead brambles around the sign to have their picture taken.  The park is a mostly undeveloped area with trails next to a canal.  The only real development is the covered area you can see in this picture.

The park itself, noisy with birdsong, was a mix of lush ferns...

...and flat meadows with dry grasses.  Do you see that the sun is shining?

I like trees.

Stuart collected a sample of rotting tree.

Stuart also explored some fallen tree roots.

Do you see how the sun is shining?

We were all happy to see the sun.
(Marcus asked me to type some words he could read.  I had to make the words bigger so that he could read them without leaning so far over that he fell out of his chair.)
