Willamette Park, Willamette Butterfly Park, and Stephens Creek

Marcus wants me to type some more words that he can read.  And he wants them to be bigger.  (So far he has only been confused by 'type'.  I think I have another early reader on my hands.)

When we got to Willamette Park, I couldn't find a nice sign.  So I took their picture by the boat ramp.

The kids walked down to the end of the launch.  Do you see that the sun is shining?

At the end of the boat ramp/dock thingy, you get a decent view of downtown.

Look!  A murder of crows!

Oh, my...a playground.  I didn't expect that.  But aren't the trees just awesome?

The kids were very enthusiastic about the playground. This thing spun around.

It's a non-seesaw for the litigation-averse!  I did stand on top and really bounce them.  Just not while holding the camera.

A slide!  Oops, someone forgot to tell my son that it's not safe to slide on your belly.  Maybe I shouldn't have told him to do it again so I could take a picture.

Beach access? To the Willamette?  I know some moms wouldn't even let their kids go down to the beach.

I didn't let them go in.  But they did throw rocks roughly equivalent to their body weights into the drink.

A little further down was an old-school playground with fun stuff like swings and seesaws.  I would not want to live near those seesaws, they were noisy.

Just south of the old-school playground was a short walk down a road to Willamette Butterfly Park.

There isn't much to Willamette Butterfly Park, just some undeveloped area, a bench, some rocks, and a really nice view of the river.  My kids wanted a bench picture.

The rocks looked good for climbing, but they were covered with leaves.  It was hard to tell where you were stepping.

We walked all the way south to Stephens Creek.

And then we headed back through Willamette Butterfly Park...

...Marcus smiled briefly for a picture...

...and then back to Willamette Park.  Oh look, a swingset!
