Then and now, and lots of randoms in between.

This is me, 3.5 years younger and at least 20 pounds heavier.

This is me a week ago, much lighter and much older looking. Same spot in front of the dining room window!

The sunsets can be beautiful here, when the weather is cold.

Stuart trying to do a headstand. Okay, Stuart actually doing a headstand.

If you are on Facebook you saw this already. Christmas party picture from six days ago. I don't know if those (gorgeous) shoes are to blame, but something is wrong with one of my toes and I have my foot propped up right now.

Poor Spike, stuck in the catbog. Spike likes to hang out on this heating register, as it's the warmest spot in the house. I guess Marcus has thoughts about that, he built the "word" you see below.

This is just my favorite picture right now. I'm not sure why.

Stuart built the Block Clock for a math lesson. After he finished with it, Marcus got in there to play with it.

Here is Spike, back in a catbog today (in the dining room this time, not the living room) but no label.

Stuart has taken to flipping through my cookbooks and leaving them open to inviting recipes, hoping I will make them. This does look pretty good. Maybe I should just cook everything my six-year-old wants.

Marcus wrote what he intended to be "funny me" on the chalkboard. Funny him, putting a chair on top of the loveseat.

It wasn't really planned, but Marcus started Math-u-See today. Here he is, filling out his first Primer worksheet. Instead of putting the unit blocks in the squares, he wanted to write the numbers in the squares. Who am I to complain? He's learning. he even drew himself a smiley face.

He's so proud. He wanted to label a folder for his work.

Here's a picture of Stuart, doing Primer for the first time. Looking at the date on this pic, they were starting formal(ish) math at about the same age--just short of four years old. I love this age, because there's no pressure and we only do math when it's fun.
